Optelian Executive to Participate on Enterprise Optical Networks Expert Panel at National Association of Telecom Professionals Event
Ottawa, ON/Marietta, GA - September 13, 2011 - Optelian, a trusted designer and manufacturer of optical transport systems, today announced that Dave Mills, VP of Sales, Marketing and Service, will participate on a National Association of Telecom Professionals (ATP) panel of industry expertsat the Atlanta Crowne Plaza, Ravinia, Tuesday, September 13, 2011.
Panelists include Hunter Newby, CEO of Allied Fiber, Jess Ollila, Senior Product Manager - Professional Services of CenturyLink/Qwest Business, Joe Patton, Vice President of Sales of FiberLight, LLC and Brandon Ross, Network Architect Resident Expert on ISP of Torrey Point. Brian Savory, ATP Emeritus Board Member and Business Development Manager for Optelian will serve as moderator for the panel discussion.
The panel will examine the option for enterprise customers to procure, operate and maintain their own private fiber networks. While leased circuits from telecom service providers will always be available, large enterprise users require large capacity at low cost of ownership.
They will focus on topics such as:
- How does a company get started deploying a private fiber network?
- What is the payback model for a build versus buy strategy?
- Learn how incremental cost per Mbps of bandwidth is impacted (i.e. margin cost versus incremental cost)?
- How is network reliability affected once a private fiber network is deployed?
- What are the challenges and opportunities of owning and operating a private fiber network?
Networking will begin at 5:30 PM and the panel will kick off at 6:30 PM.
