RDM-2150

RDM-2150 is used to remotely switch eighty 50 GHz-spaced wavelengths from either of two input paths into one output signal. When used with the OCM-8450, it automatically balances power across the wavelengths.

Reconfigurable optical add drop modules (ROADMs) allow network operators to quickly and dynamically add and change traffic in DWDM networks. The LightGAIN RDM-2150 module provides remote per-channel switching where selected channels can be added or dropped at sites in the network. Channels are selected using the Optelian ONM-200 network manager, greatly reducing the need to visit sites for provisioning.

The RDM-2150 may also be used for automatic per-channel optical power balancing when used with the OCM-8450 optical channel monitor. The OCM-8450 monitors optical power per channel in real time. Using this information, the RDM-2150 automatically attenuates the power level on each channel as needed, eliminating the need to take an OSA on site.
