Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM)
Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) systems combine up to 18 wavelengths based on an International Telecommunications Union (ITU) standard channel plan. These wavelengths are spaced a standard 20nm apart and range from 1271nm to 1611nm. CWDM systems are ideal for the access environment and for interoffice routes up to 100km in length.
The Optelian LightGAIN EWX-810 family of CWDM systems combines eight wavelengths from 1471nm to 1611nm with a 1310nm overlay. These systems can be active (with transponders) or passive (accepting CWDM ITU standard wavelengths from other transmitters).
