Ottawa, ON and Calgary, AB — Intuitive Packet Optical Networking™ solutions provider, Optelian, announced that Cybera, a not-for-profit, technical agency that is helping Alberta advance its IT frontiers, has selected the Optelian FLEX Architecture for its telecom network in Calgary.
The network will connect research and education institutions to enable collaboration among organizations, as well as support Calgary’s flourishing technology community.
Jean-Francois Amiot, Director of Networks and Operations at Cybera stated, “Optelian is enabling Cybera to light fibre in Calgary with technology that will provide hundreds of Gigabits per second of telecom capacity to connect a variety of higher education and not-for-profit organizations together.”
Cybera will deploy the Optelian FLEX Architecture to light the Calgary fibre with Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) products including the OMS-7190, MDX-4000, and RGN-8010. The network will offer a reliable infrastructure of up to 40 DWDM wavelengths per fibre pair at rates of 10 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) per wavelength, with the capability to increase to 100 Gb/s when required.
“Cybera recognized the efficiency, performance, and reliability of Optelian networking solutions, as well as the quality manufacturing performed in our Canadian headquarters in Ottawa,” said Rupy Bhoi, Optelian’s Director of Sales in Canada. “Our efforts in Calgary are the first step in connecting public institutions across the province.
