Sales Director, Tier 1 Account Management

Optelian is currently seeking a Sales Director who will have 15+ years of experience in selling optical system level solutions to large carriers.  He/she also has a basic knowledge of optical transport systems and applications. The Sales Director will report to the AVP, Sales for a leading Tier 1 customer account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate sales to meet or exceed objectives and support sales strategies to ensure business objectives are reached.
  • Increase exposure of company’s product offering through consistent customer visits, relationship building and positive attitude.
  • Qualify and close new sales opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key customer decision makers and influencers at all levels.
  • Identify, engage and co-ordinate the necessary client resources to support the account.
  • Conduct one-on-one and group sales presentations.
  • Understand competitor products and solutions, and Optelian differentiators.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the optical communications networking industry and optical networking industry trends.
  • Work closely with AVP, Sales to review and update both forecast and sell-through information.
  • Ensure accurate sales information and forecasting in CRM.
  • Up to 75% travel in the US.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in selling optical system level solutions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate sales record at a high level of achievement.

Regional Sales Account Manager – Telecom & MSO

Optelian is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regional Sales Account Manager to join its Sales team for the South East Region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales plan to deliver assigned objectives while maximizing sales bookings.
  • Responsible for closely supporting existing accounts.
  • Responsible for establishing new accounts via prospecting, qualifying, selling and closing services and products to telecom, MSO and utility and enterprise verticals.
  • Identify key areas of opportunity by reviewing customers, competitors and market trends, leveraging your understanding and industry know-how and/or connections (e.g. Telcos, MSOs, Data Center, and Wireless operators).
  • Responsible for tracking customer information, forecasts and reports.
  • Develop and maintain prospect and customer list based on strategic marketing data and other sources for sales leads in our CRM system.
  • Maintain personal relationships with targeted companies at manager, engineer and back office levels. This would include network architecture, planning, engineering and other meaningful customer personnel.
  • Understand competitor products and solutions, and Optelian differentiators.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the optical communications networking industry and optical networking industry trends.
  • Up to 75% travel required within the US.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in selling optical system level solutions.
  • Ability to demonstrate sales record at a high level of achievement.
  • Ability to understand customer issues and map their business needs to Optelian’s solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of CWDM, DWDM, ROADM and other optical networking solutions.
  • Ability to assess and understand customer’s decision makers and decision processes.
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate a value proposition to engineers, managers and executives.
  • A self – starter with excellent time management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.

SDN/Web App Developer

Optelian is looking for a senior software designer to develop and maintain current and next generation management systems. An ideal candidate will have knowledge of developing scalable and modular core java frameworks and web applications, including front end UI. Once hired, the candidate is expected to design and develop a web based management system and maintain the existing Java Swing based management software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 10+ years Software development experience.
  • 5+ years Web Application development experience.
  • Strong object oriented analysis, design and development and troubleshooting skills.
  • Expertise in designing and developing scalable and reliable modular web applications.
  • Experience in SDN technologies and knowledge of NETCONF and RESTCONF. Working knowledge of controllers such as OpenDayLight will be a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge in Web development technologies.
  • Experience in developing server side java frameworks.
  • Experience working with Java Swing GUI.
  • Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Experience in building and deploying micro services with RESTful APIs considered an asset.
  • Knowledge in optical domain & transport protocols – DWDM, OTN, SNMP considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of virtualization, Openstack and related technologies considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with standards such as OpenROADM and OpenConfig considered an asset.

Sales Engineer, Tier 1 Account

Optelian is currently seeking a Sales Engineer who will possess a wide range of pre-sales, sales, and post-sales technical support capabilities focused on Optical transport systems including OTN and Ethernet technologies. Experience with service provider transport and data network deployments is required. The Sales Engineer will report to the AVP, Sales for a leading Tier 1 customer account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical pre-sales process.
  • Work closely with the AVP, Sales and Account Manager(s), to prospect and close business.
  • Perform customer demonstrations and technical presentations, as well as manage technical evaluations of Optelian Products.
  • Understand customer requirements, develop and articulate technical solutions.
  • Evaluate project scope to determine feasibility and resource requirements.
  • Provide customer product training.
  • System troubleshooting and occasional technical support coverage.
  • Occasional system installation/turn-up and over-the-shoulder technician support.
  • Application notes development and how-to video production for customer use.
  • Up to 50% travel in the US.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate technical degree or masters preferred along with at least 10 years of experience working in Optical network industry.
  • Strong technical skills with layers 0, 1 and 2.
  • Ability to understand customer issues and map their business needs to Optelian’s solutions.
  • Familiar with Telco environment, C.O.’s, R.T.’s, CPE, Premise. Knowledge of Telecom transmission and associated topologies: P-T-P, BLSR, UPSR.
  • Excellent understanding of DWDM, CWDM, and ROADM networks.
  • Understanding of transport protocols.
  • Superior relationship-building and technical sales abilities.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with planning and modeling tools an asset.
  • Familiarity with Optical Spectrum Analyzers and other circuit troubleshooting equipment is a plus.

Business Development Manager (International)

Optelian is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager for international sales. The Business Development Manager builds market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new strategic sales plan for Optelian’s international sales growth.
  • Lead business development initiatives to deliver prospective client presentations, proposals, and quotes to secure new client relationships.
  • Develop account sales plans and approaches with the President.
  • Expand business with clients by becoming a trusted advisor and using the full range of Optelian services to achieve objectives.

  • International travel to customer and/or channel partner locations as requirement of the position (50-75% of time).
  • Continuous Learning is required to keep on top of industry trends.
  • Create, manage and track international sales opportunities via CRM.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of relevant new business development experience within the Telecommunication Industry.
  • Basic understanding of optical transport technologies is a strong asset.
  • Experience with selling in at least some of the following regions EMEA, APAC, and LATAM.
  • Experience in work with (or establishing) an international alternate channel network.
  • Minimum of 5 years proven outside direct international sales experience with focus in consultative and solution-oriented sales approaches.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Track record of meeting/exceeding annual sales quota based on new client acquisition.
  • Proven experience in developing account penetration and development strategies, conducting cold calls, qualifying prospects, leading technical sales process and strategy, making sales presentations, closing techniques, and developing service and pricing proposals.
  • Self-motivated individual who exhibits a sense of urgency in all sales related activities.
  • Team player who can work with multiple departments to deliver results.
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate a value proposition to engineers, managers and executives.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing.  Other languages are an asset.
